Def Inc were formed in Manchester back in 1998 where they set up the legendary
Definition parties. Although predominantly a drum and bass night, definition
was one of the first events to introduce breaks into the Manchester clubland.
The pair moved down to London and started to put together their studio. Def
Inc’s first break came when they landed the chance to remix the Coldplay
track ‘God put a smile on my face’ for Parlaphone. Underlying their
versatility as remixers, the duo typically known for slammin breaks turned in
one of the biggest chillout anthems of the year. Their remix featured on the
“10 years of Café del Mar” compiled by Jose Padilla and the
Perfecto Chill compilations. The mix also received extensive airplay and was
a favourite of Radio 1 stalwart Zane Lowe.
Def Inc have been regulars at various London locations including Lock 17, Heaven,
Studio 33 and Electrowerks. They are also regulars at the Rinse parties in Bristol,
London’s legendary C64 free party, and at Birmingham’s Godskitchen.
Brought to the attention of Aquasky by Guy Ornadel, here Def Inc produce two
incredibly versatile pieces of music. Funk being the overlying element on this
12” and are perfect to get the party rocking.
