Def Inc. [step back]

Def Inc were formed in Manchester back in 1998 where they set up the legendary Definition parties. Although predominantly a drum and bass night, definition was one of the first events to introduce breaks into the Manchester clubland. They also held a monthly residence at the Mint nights in Sheffield.
The pair moved down to London and started to put together their studio. Def Inc’s first break came when they landed the chance to remix the Coldplay track ‘God put a smile on my face’. Underlying their versatility as remixers, the duo typically known for slammin breaks turned in one of the biggest chillout anthems of the year. Their remix featured on the 10 years of café del mar compiled by Jose Padilla and the Perfecto chill compilations. The mix also received extensive airplay and was a favourite of Radio 1 stalwart Zane Lowe. Despite the unlikely casting of Def Inc in the role of ‘chillout act’, their main focus has always been ‘the breaks’. Tracks conceived in the Def inc lab have damaged many a dancefloor across the land, highlights including Trojan infused ‘Dub poker”, funky as f**k ‘Get it on’ and electro breaks anthem ‘This is the sound’ all of which received extensive radio play and dj support.
Def Inc have been regulars at various London locations including Lock 17, Heaven, Studio 33 and Electrowerks. They are also regulars at the Rinse parties in Bristol, London’s legendary C64 free party, and at Birmingham’s Godskitchen. Def Inc have also launched the monthly Don Sonix night at the Brixton Sand bar. Don Sonix blends heavy dub and reggae new and old with only the most cutting edge breakbeat. Expect to get very sweaty. One thing that is obvious to anyone who has witnessed a Def Inc performance is that the love and passion for music always comes across; these guys smash it every time.
With a wide range of influences from reggae and rock to funk and hip hop, Def Inc are responsible for some of the most banging tracks and dj sets around with an emphasis on the dancefloor. Be it as dj’s, remixers or producers, these guys are set to rise and rise.
